How to compress Files in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. Open the File Manager.

  3. Select one or more files/folders that you want to compress.

  4. Click the Compress icon from the top toolbar.

  5. Choose your preferred Compression Type:

    • .zip (Most common, Windows compatible)

    • .tar.gz (Best for Linux servers)

    • .rar (Optional for archiving large projects)

  6. Enter the name of the compressed archive (for example, backup-website.zip) and click Compress File(s).

  • A dialog box will appear showing the Compression Results with details of the created archive.
