Extracting & Compressing Files via SSH (Thamara Dedicated & VPS)
When working on your Thamara Dedicated or VPS server, you can extract (unpack) and compress files directly over SSH using standard Linux commands.
Note: Make sure SSH access is already enabled on your account. If you haven’t set it up yet, please see our guide:
How to Get and Use SSH Access in the Thamara Cloud Knowledge Base.
Prerequisites
Active SSH access to your server
Appropriate permissions (you may need sudo for some actions)
Required utilities installed (e.g., unzip may not be installed by default on some systems)
1) .zip Files
Extract a zip archive
unzip archive.zip
Compress a single file into zip

4) .tar Archives
Extract a .tar archive
tar -xvf archive.tar
Create a .tar archive (files/folders)
tar -cvf archive.tar file1.ext file2.ext directory/
