How to View Error Logs in cPanel

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. From the dashboard, go to Metrics → Errors.

  3. The interface will display up to the 300 most recent error log entries from your web server, in reverse chronological order.

  4. Review the entries — each will show:

    • Timestamp (date & time)

    • The module and severity (e.g., [error], [client 123.45.67.89])

    • The client IP and the error message (e.g., “File does not exist: /public_html/abc.html”)

  5. If you need older entries beyond the last 300, you’ll need to access the actual log files (for example /var/log/apache2/error_log) via File Manager or SSH.

  6. Use the error information to diagnose issues like missing files (404), server errors (500), or permission issues.
