VPS & Dedicated Hosting: Accessing the System Console

VPS & Dedicated Hosting: Accessing the System Console

  • Log in to WHM

◦ Go to https://yourdomain.com/whm or https://yourdomain.com:2087

◦ Enter your root username and password

◦ Click Log In

2 — Open the Terminal (System Console)

Once inside WHM:

  1. In the left-side WHM search bar, type:
    Terminal
  2. Under Server Configuration, click Terminal.

This opens the built-in Linux console for your server.

3 — Accept the Safety Warning

The first time you open the Terminal, you will see a warning:

Warning: Exercise extreme caution.
Misuse of command-line tools can destroy data or render your server unusable.

To proceed:

  • Click I understand and want to proceed.

WHM will then open the Terminal window.

4 — Start Using Linux Commands

You can now run Linux commands directly on your server — for example:

  • Managing files and directories à Restarting services à Checking logs
  • Updating packages à Installing software à Monitoring processes

This gives you full administrative control over your VPS or Dedicated Server.
