Why Am I Not Receiving Emails? (A Troubleshooting Guide)

Summary:-

Not receiving expected emails can be frustrating and may impact your business operations. At Thamara, we ensure our mail servers are running at 99.9% uptime, so most delivery issues are usually related to configuration settings, disk quotas, or DNS records. This guide helps you identify and fix the most common causes.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

  1. Check Your Disk Space: If your cPanel account or specific email mailbox has reached its storage limit, new emails will bounce back to the sender. Go to Email Disk Usage in cPanel to free up space.

  2. Verify MX Records: Your domain must point to the correct Mail Exchange (MX) records. If you recently changed your Name Servers, it may take up to 24 hours for emails to start arriving again.

  3. Check the Spam/Junk Folder: Sometimes legitimate emails are flagged by aggressive spam filters. Check these folders and mark the emails as "Not Spam."

  4. Verify Email Routing: Ensure your routing is set to Local Mail Exchanger if you are using Thamara's servers. If it's set to "Remote," our server will think your emails are hosted elsewhere and won't deliver them locally.

  5. Use the "Track Delivery" Tool: In cPanel, go to Track Delivery. Type the sender's email address and click Run Report. This will show you exactly why an email failed (e.g., "Filtered," "Rejected," or "Mailbox Full").

Tip for Thamara Users:

The Track Delivery tool is your best friend. It provides the exact error message that the mail server generated. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, please take a screenshot of the "Track Delivery" report and send it to our technical support team for faster assistance.
