How to Access Terminal in cPanel

Access Terminal

To access the Terminal, perform the following steps:

1 - Open cPanel (yourdomain/cpanel).

2 - Click on (Terminal) from the Advanced section.

3 - Read the warning message.

4 - Click I understand and want to proceed.

Note:
The warning message will not appear again in future sessions.

  • Terminate a Terminal Session

To end a Terminal session:

1 - Close the Terminal window or log out of cPanel.

This will terminate the active terminal session.

To start a new session, return to the Terminal interface and click Reconnect.

The Terminal feature provides direct command-line control over your hosting account and should be used carefully.

Warning:
Commands entered in the Terminal can affect your account and may render it inoperable. This feature should only be used by users with command-line experience.

Note:
The Terminal interface will only appear if:

  • Your account has shell (SSH) access.

  • Your hosting provider enables the SSH Access & Terminal feature in WHM Feature Manager.

  • The server profile allows this feature.

If you log out of cPanel, active Terminal sessions will automatically close after a short period. Any running commands will continue until the session fully terminates.
