Summary:-
Node.js is a powerful JavaScript runtime built for building scalable network applications. With the Node.js Manager available at Thamara, you can host your JavaScript-based applications (like Express.js apps) directly on your server. This tool allows you to select specific Node.js versions, manage dependencies via NPM, and keep your application running in the background.
Steps to Set Up Node.js:
Log in to your control panel.
In the Software section, click on Node.js Manager.
Click Create Application.
Fill in the following details:
Node.js Version: Choose the version required by your app (e.g., 18.x or 20.x).
Application Mode: Select "Development" or "Production".
Application Root: Enter the folder name where your files are located.
Application URL: Choose the domain or subdomain.
Startup File: Enter the main file name (usually app.js or index.js).
Click Create.
Once created, you can click Run NPM Install to install the necessary packages from your package.json file.
Tip for Thamara Users:
Always make sure to define your "Application Port" correctly if your script requires it. If you encounter issues, check the "Passenger" logs provided in the Node.js manager interface; they will tell you exactly which line of code is causing the app to crash.
