How to Manage Directory Indexes in cPanel

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

1. Open your cPanel login page, Enter your username and password.
   
   
   
   

Step 2: Access Indexes

1. Scroll down to the Advanced section, Click Indexes.
   
   

Step 3: Select a Directory

1. Click on the folder you want to manage, cPanel will display options for indexing this directory.
   
   

Step 4: Choose an Indexing Option

cPanel provides several options:

1. Default System Setting – Uses the server’s default index behavior.
2. No Indexing – Prevents visitors from seeing a directory listing if no index file exists.
3. Standard Indexing – Shows a plain list of files in the directory.
4. Fancy Indexing – Displays a visually styled list of files in the directory.
   
   

Step 5: Save Changes

1. After selecting your preferred indexing option, click Save.
