How to Create a New File or Folder Using File Manager in cPanel

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

1. Go to your cPanel login page (example: yourdomain.com/cpanel), Enter your username and password.
   
   
   

Step 2: Open File Manager

1. From the dashboard, scroll to the Files section.
   
   
2. Click File Manager.
   
   
   

Step 3: Choose the Location

1. Navigate to the directory where you want to create the new item.
   Example:
• public_html → for website files
• A subfolder → for specific content
  
  
  

Step 4: Click Create

At the top toolbar inside File Manager:

• Click + File to create a new file, OR Click + Folder to create a new folder

A creation window will appear.

Step 5: Enter the Name

1. In the text field:
• Enter the file name (example: index.html, test.php) OR , Enter the folder name (example: images, backup, uploads)
2. Confirm the location shown in:
• New file will be created in: OR , New folder will be created in:

You can edit the path if needed.

Step 6: Create the Item

• Click Create New File, OR Click Create New Folder

The new item will appear immediately in the selected directory.
