How to Enable and Manage Automatic Updates in Plesk

  •  Enable Smart Update from the Tools Section

Log in to your Plesk Panel using your username and password.

From your Plesk dashboard, navigate to Websites & Domains and select your domain.
Under the Tools section, find the Smart Update option and switch it ON.

This feature allows Plesk to automatically analyze and safely update your WordPress core, plugins, and themes without breaking your website.

  •  Open the Updates Section in WordPress Toolkit

From the left sidebar, go to WordPress to access the WordPress Toolkit.
Select your website (e.g., thamara.info) and scroll down to find the Updates option at the bottom of the page.

Click on Updates to open the auto-update settings for your WordPress installation.

This section allows you to manage automatic updates for your WordPress core, plugins, and themes — helping you keep everything secure and up to date with no manual effort.

  •  Configure Automatic Update Settings

After opening the Updates section, click on Update Settings at the top of the page.

A new window will open where you can control how updates are applied for your WordPress installation, plugins, and themes.

◦ Under Update WordPress automatically, select: Yes, all (minor and major) updates — this ensures your WordPress core is always up to date.

◦ Under Update plugins automatically, choose one of the following based on your preference:

                     ◦ Defined individually (recommended if you want control per plugin)

                     ◦ Forced (to auto-update all plugins automatically)

                     ◦ Under Update themes automatically, choose: Defined individually or Forced — depending on how you want theme updates handled.

Once you’ve made your selections, click Save to apply your settings.

These settings ensure your website, plugins, and themes are always secure and updated without any manual effort.

  • Verify Update Logs

After setting up automatic updates, you can always review what updates have been applied to your website.

     ◦ Go to WordPress Toolkit in your Plesk panel.

     ◦ Select your website (e.g., thamara.info).

     ◦ Click on Logs at the top, next to “Back Up / Restore.”

The Logs section shows a detailed history of recent actions — including WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates.
This helps you confirm that your automatic updates are running properly and lets you troubleshoot any issues if needed.
